A course that celebrates the culture and ritual of food. Not food for sustenance sake – rather food as a celebration of life, family and the company of good friends.
Food is a vital and integral part of Greek life – not just the careful preparation of local, fresh ingredients but also the complete contentment of eating in good company, enjoyed unhurriedly and shared with friends. Nikos, your chef and host, not only feels passionately about the right way to cook Greek but also the importance of rediscovering the sensual pleasure that food brings into our lives.
After 20 years of arranging quality visits to the island, we have now combined our travel experience, love of food and enthusiasm and knowledge of Corfu to create a specialised week for those who know Greece and for whom food is one of the major ingredients of a great holiday. During the course, we intend to show you how to cook authentic Greek food but, just as importantly, to embrace the Greek joy of life with memorable food and wines, relaxed hospitality, friendship and, naturally, a time for simple peace and the odd siesta...
Niko, your guide, will be flexible and perfectly willing to stray from your itinerary – if you wish to dance at a local fiesta instead of cooking or just want to stray back to the sea for another swim – no problem! We have tailored a week’s stay in Corfu to include:
Accommodation in a family villa near to the beaches of St. George.
Return flights UK to Corfu and local taxi transfers.
A very limited number of guests on each course.
Breakfast each morning in the villa.
Cooking demonstrations and informal lessons in the villa kitchen.
A day’s sailing along the island’s eastern coast and sumptuous lunch in Agni.
An evening at a fishing village taverna for seafood feast by the sea.
Starlit barbecue supper on villa roof terrace.
Excursion to the colourful Corfu market followed by lunch in Corfu Town.
Taverna supper with authentic live Greek music.
A trip to the neighbouring islands of Paxos and Antipaxos.
Dinner specialising in sensational variety of mezzedes.
Unlike most specialised “foodie” holidays, the KALI OREXI course benefits from being based at a beachside holiday location – so you won’t just cook but can work on your tan too! Your accommodation during your stay will be in our villas, Irene and Mantis, and although each of you will have your own room the rest of the facilities will be communal, adding to the house party atmosphere and, we hope, bringing you together as friends.
The two houses share a large, organically managed garden, bursting with grape vines, flowers and fruit trees. With verandas and a roof terrace, there’s always plenty of room to find a quiet spot. The villas both have spacious and airy interiors and provide a comfortable and relaxing base for your holiday.
