An authentic fisherman’s cottage, nestled within the pretty village of St Stephano, offering charming accommodation for two guests (or two plus children), in a traditional setting.

St Stephano (also known as San Stefanos) is located on the pretty northeastern coast of Corfu and is much admired for its friendliness and appealing ambiance by well-heeled travellers and is known by some as “Kensington-On-Sea”! Surrounding the small bay, the unspoilt village boasts a good choice of fish tavernas and family run restaurants as well as other amenities, such as mini-markets and shops, and is a good base from which to rent a boat so that you can access the other nearby bays and inlets, famous on this part of the coast. Or why not book a sea-taxi to take you to the fabulous tavernas of Agni (and ask them to collect you again, once you are sated with fresh fish, retsina and watermelon!)?

This delightful fisherman’s cottage retains much of its original charm, whitewashed in the traditional way and set within a small terrace of similar houses, three minutes from the quayside. At the entrance to the property there’s a small terrace, bedecked with pots of geraniums and fragrant herbs. The cottage offers comfortable accommodation for two, or a couple with one or two small children, but would not be suitable for four adults.

The cottage comprises a large main room, with seating area and dining table and incorporates a compact but adequate kitchen. The furnishings are traditional, with lace at the windows, hand-carved bookshelves and an authentic fireplace. The two divan seats can also be used as beds for up to two smaller children. The double bedroom is a good size and has a large wardrobe. The French doors from the bedroom lead through to the bathroom and covered patio – a lovely spot for a morning coffee – that overlooks the flower-filled walled garden. As access to the bathroom is only through the bedroom, the cottage would be inappropriate for sharing with other adults.
